Robots are everywhere: in factories, hospitals, farms, on Mars and on our beaches. Every one of them does three things: it senses the world, thinks about what it sensed, and acts. This course teaches you how, in plain language, starting from zero.
Across 12 lessons you build one robot car and keep making it smarter: it drives a square, avoids walls, follows a black line, follows it smoothly with PID control, and finally you drive it from your phone. Every lesson has hands-on activities, a quiz with answers and a challenge. A Python simulation lets you tune PID on screen before tuning your real robot, and the course ends with a project of your own design.
What you will be able to do
- Explain what a robot is and build safe circuits with sensors, LEDs and motors
- Write Arduino programs using variables, if/else, loops and functions
- Build a robot car that avoids obstacles, follows a line and is driven from a phone
- Tune a PID controller and describe how Raspberry Pi, computer vision, drones and ROS are used
Before you start: None. A computer, and an Arduino robot kit from Lesson 5 (Lessons 1 to 5 also work in the free Tinkercad simulator).
